Briarwood Detox Center — Step 8 worksheet
Step 8 worksheet — the amends list
Step 8 asks for a list of everyone you have harmed, and for the willingness — not yet the action — to make it right with all of them.
Two words carry this step: list and willing. You are not making amends here and you are not deciding how. You are writing names down and telling the truth about which ones you would rather skip.
The list
Include yourself. Include people who are dead, people you cannot find, and people who harmed you too — how to handle each of those is Step 9's problem, not this one.
| Who | What I did | Am I willing? (yes / not yet) | If not yet — what is in the way |
|---|---|---|---|
The ones I left off
Who did I think of and not write down?
What am I telling myself about why they do not count?
Where am I still convinced the harm was deserved?
Before you put this away
A worksheet is a way to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper. It is not the step. Step 8 is worked with a sponsor, a counselor, or someone else who has done it — they will see things in these pages that you cannot see yourself.
Who am I going to show this to, and when?
What did I leave off these pages because I did not want to write it down?
