We strive to make the insurance, enrollment, and payment process as convenient as possible for our clients. As a result, we provide a variety of payment options for people enrolled in our programs. Paying for detox — straight answers
How much does detox cost without insurance?
Inpatient detox is $900 a day self-pay in Austin and Houston, which is $4,500 to $6,300 for a typical 5 to 7 day stay. Outpatient detox in San Antonio is $350 a day. With insurance most people pay $0 to $5,000 out of pocket. Medications and labs are billed separately.
The full price list and what is includedHow do most people pay for detox?
Through commercial health insurance, which covers medical detox when it is medically necessary. Self-pay is the other route and the rates are published rather than quoted on the phone.

Briarwood is in network with most major commercial plans, including plans bought through an employer or the marketplace, and accepts TRICARE and VA benefits. It does not accept Medicare or Medicaid. A benefit check takes a couple of minutes and costs nothing.
Is a deposit required?
No. There is no deposit; payment is taken at admission. What a self-pay figure does not include is medications and labs, which are billed separately.
What if I cannot afford it?
Say so on the call. A benefit check costs nothing and often finds coverage people did not know they had, and where it does not, admissions can talk through what is realistic rather than leaving you to work it out alone.
