Most people do not need all four, and almost nobody needs them in a different order. Detox first if withdrawal is a medical risk, then treatment, then somewhere stable to live while the rest of life restarts.

Inpatient treatment is where the work moves from the body to what put you here. You live on site, the days are structured, and there is nothing to manage except the treatment. It is delivered at Nova Recovery Center, which owns Briarwood — so the handoff out of detox is internal rather than a referral to a stranger.

Outpatient treatment is the same clinical work as residential care, on a schedule that lets you keep your job and sleep in your own bed. We deliver it at our San Antonio location, and it is also available through Nova Recovery Center.

Sober living is housing, not treatment: a substance-free home with structure, accountability and people at the same stage. Most people live in one WHILE they are in outpatient treatment rather than after it. Run by Eudaimonia Recovery Homes, part of the same company.

What we treat
Withdrawal is different for every substance and so is the medical response. These are the ones we detox from most often.
- Alcohol The withdrawal most likely to become dangerous without medical supervision.
- Benzodiazepines Xanax, Valium, Ativan — a supervised taper rather than an abrupt stop.
- Cocaine Crash symptoms and cravings, with the mental-health side treated too.
- Methamphetamine Exhaustion, low mood and cravings managed while the body resets.
- Opioids and opiates Fentanyl and prescription painkillers, with MAT started here when appropriate.
- Prescription drugs Stimulants, sedatives and painkillers, prescribed or otherwise.
- Heroin Comfort medication from the first hours, not after a wait.

“Outpatient detox” and “outpatient treatment” are different levels of care. San Antonio offers both; Austin and Houston are inpatient detox.

Do I have to start with detox?
Not always. Every admission begins with a medical assessment, and that is what determines the level of care. Detox is the first step when withdrawal needs medical management; where it does not, we will say so.
What happens after detox?
Detox is a few days; recovery is longer. Nova Recovery Center runs inpatient and outpatient treatment and Eudaimonia Recovery Homes runs sober living, so the handoff happens inside one group rather than by referral to a stranger.
Is every level of care available at every location?
No, and the table on this page shows exactly which are offered where. Austin and Houston are inpatient detox; San Antonio is outpatient. Admissions will place you where the right level of care actually is.
Does insurance cover this?
Most major insurance covers medical detox, and Briarwood is in network with 18 carriers. Coverage varies by plan, so benefits are verified free before anything is scheduled.
Can I get in today?
Often, yes. Admissions is staffed 24 hours a day and bed availability changes daily, so a call is the only way to get a real answer.
