Does Aetna cover detox?
It depends on your specific plan — the level of care, the deductible you have met, and whether the facility is in network. We check all of it against your policy before you commit to anything.

What you would actually pay
Your share comes down to your deductible, your copay and how much of the year you have already used. The benefits check returns that number rather than an estimate, so you are not guessing at a bill.

Questions
Aetna coverage, answered
Will my Aetna insurance cover drug and alcohol detox?
If you have Aetna insurance, your policy may cover some or even all of your drug and alcohol detox treatment at Briarwood. Coverage options and costs will vary based on the limitations of your insurance plan. You can verify your benefits and coverage details by calling Briarwood Detox Center or by submitting this confidential form online.
What types of detox does Aetna cover?
Aetna offers coverage for several types of drug and alcohol detox programs to help individuals who are struggling with addiction. Aetna coverage can be used to help pay for a medically-assisted inpatient detox program, which is what we offer here at Briarwood. We highly recommend a medically-assisted detox program, as it is the safest and most comfortable way to detox.
How can I verify my Aetna insurance coverage?
If you’d like to find out if your Aetna insurance plan will cover drug and alcohol detox at Briarwood, you can call our admissions specialists to complete a confidential insurance benefits verification over the phone. This process is free and only takes a few minutes to complete. Our admissions specialists can remain on the phone with you while we complete the verification or give you a call back with the results at your earliest convenience.
Will anyone else on my insurance policy be notified if a verification of benefits is completed?
No. The insurance benefits verification process at Briarwood is completely confidential.
Do I have to commit to treatment if Briarwood completes a verification of benefits for me?
There is absolutely no obligation to enroll in treatment, even if we verify your insurance benefits for you. We will simply provide you with your insurance benefits information and you can decide to enroll in a detox program at Briarwood or seek treatment elsewhere. If you have any additional questions about your coverage or our detox services during this process, we are happy to answer them.
Do I have to pay to begin the admissions and insurance verification process?
No. The insurance verification process at Briarwood is completely free.
If Aetna will not cover the full cost of detox, how can I pay for the remaining balance?
If, when we verify your insurance benefits, we find that Aetna will not cover the full cost of detox treatment at Briarwood, we will explore several other payment options with you. These may include Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), financed payment plans, third-party healthcare loans, HSA funds, or a discounted out-of-pocket payment.
What other benefits does Aetna offer for addiction treatment?
Upon completion of your detox program, you may want to continue your addiction treatment with an inpatient or outpatient rehab program. Aetna also offers coverage for many of these addiction treatment services, including inpatient and outpatient drug rehab and group and individual therapy. Coverage provided by your specific insurance policy, the severity of your addiction, and any co-occurring mental health issues will all play a role in the rehab center you choose.
